Stephanie Robillard

Stephanie Robillard (she/her) is a PhD candidate at the Graduate School of Education at Stanford University. She is located within the Race Inequality and Language in Education (RILE) program, with a focus on English Teacher Education. Her research explores how teachers intentionally create spaces that challenge dominant narratives through the use of young adult literature. Her current research focuses on the ways that teachers affirm Black girls’ experiences and ways of knowing when teaching about enslavement. Prior to studying at Stanford, Stephanie served as a middle school teacher and librarian in Oakland, CA and as a lecturer in the School of Education at UC Berkeley, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Education. She was recently awarded the Doctoral Student Award for Research and Academic Excellence.
